Saunders aims to present a varied and accessible programme to delight
audiences both young and old, be they new to organ music or life long
devotees of the instrument. His solo
repertoire includes both classical and jazz works, some familiar
and many new or recently rediscovered.He has transcribed many orchestral works for the organ including concertos by Bach and Vivaldi. These transcriptions and arrangements often form part of his concert programmes, The most extensive of these is the Hungarian Comedy Overture by Kéler-Béla which was transcribed using a recording of a fairground organ. He is particularly interested in the nineteenth century composer A.P.F.Boëly and also enjoys performing contemporary music by Giles Swayne, Arvo Pärt and Philip Glass. Some of his regular concerts take place as part of the Leeds Cathedral Thursday Lunchtime Concert Series. |
